Small Successes

  1. Planted flowers in an empty plot of ground at the end of our driveway.  Does not actually belong to us, but after nearly five years living here we got permission and finally got to work on it
  2. Got the car serviced
  3. Starting to finalize work plans for the fall

What are your small successes this week?    Go on over to Faith & Family Live and share them.

Quick Takes vol #11

  1. Joined Facebook this week and have enjoyed reconnecting with friends from past stages of life, while ignoring comments about the Dark Side from my husband
  2. Giving thanks that the roof leak may well have been solved with some caulk.
  3. Enjoying better weather and being outside so much
  4. I'm surprised how quickly I lost the knack for being up at night.  Last Wednesday E. was up three times thru the night, (which would have been standard a year ago) and I felt as if I had been pummeled.
  5. Healthy growing girl who for the first time I think could recall the injections, because for the rest of the evening would randomly start winching as if she was remembering the injustice
  6. Has begun saying "mmmm" when we feed her something she likes.  So cute!
  7. Plans for the weekend: visiting local gardens with friends and working in mine.

Random thoughts

Returned home yesterday after enjoying a wonderful weekend with my family.  Celebrating my mom's birthday I also got to visit with a favorite aunt and uncle, play with nephews and a niece and watch my sisters enjoy my daughter.

Blissful quiet moments spend reading on a sunny screened porch while said daughter napped.  Warm sun and gentle breezes, bliss!

Attended the christening of the son of family friends.  Lovely service and wonderful chance to catch up with a family I had not seen since my wedding over six years ago.  Their younger daughters I had once care for are now high school seniors.  They were younger than Elisabeth when I first watched them, a wonderfully bittersweet example of how time truly flies.

Will be wearing orange and praying for Stellan tomorrow!

Tough love

   E. is now napping, finally giving in the nap that I knew she needed before she did.  She fought it and so putting me into that interesting situation where I am fighting her in order to fight for her. I see this happening more often as we move into the toddler years.
Of course I would love to cuddle and rock her down to sleep, she is warm, cuddly, and completely squishable but I know that self-soothing is an important skill which will in the long run help her be happier.  So returning several times to help her lay back down and snuggle her lovey, after a few minutes left the room.
   My turn to get teary.

Happy Holy Week!

Quick Takes vol #10

  1. I am so sick of rain!  I realize that April showers bring May flowers, but enough already
  2. Watched the ER finale last night which was bittersweet.  I have not really followed the series in the last few years however 15 years is a long time.  I was a senior in college we got into this new series.
  3. Holy Week is next week: anticipating the crazy business but such good liturgy, hopefully
  4. Family coming, now that the crazy cleaning frenzy is done I can look forward to it
  5. My nephew is so excited to see the Liberty Bell, and I excited to share that with him
  6. E. is thirteen months and such a silly monkey.
  7. Happy Weekend!
